Tetrabromophthalic anhydride is a white or yellow powder, the formula is C8Br4O3, molecular weight is at 463.7. It is insoluble in water, aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents, slightly soluble in chlorinated hydrocarbons such as chloroform, acetone, xylene, etc., soluble in nitrobenzene, dimethylformamide, toxic. This product is a reactive flame retardant, which can be used for the flame retardant of polystyrene, polypropylene, polyethylene, ABS resin, and can also be used as a synthesis of other organic chemicals.
